SPP to attend the 5th Polish Climate Congress

The fifth edition of the Polish Climate Congress was held on March 25–27, 2026, at the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The main organizer of the Congress was the European Foundation for Sustainable Investment (EFIZ). The event’s partners representing the public sector were: the Ministry of State Assets, the Ministry of Energy, and the Energy Regulatory Office. The event brought together government and local government officials, as well as representatives of the business community, who accepted the invitation to debate the strategic directions of the green transition in Poland. The Congress was also attended by numerous representatives from the scientific community, international organizations, the media, and civil society. The Congress was opened by Senator A. Szejnfeld, Chair of the PKL Program Council. The program of the three-day conference included debates on topics of strategic importance such as: Energy – Finance – Regulation (March 25); Industry – Technologies (March 26); Public Investment (March 27).

Participants had the opportunity to exchange experiences and learn how entrepreneurship and new technologies can drive dynamic, resilient, and sustainable economic models. One of the accompanying program highlights was the announcement of the results of the prestigious “Leaders of Energy Transition” competition. Its goal is to promote innovative, scalable solutions that support climate and environmental protection and accelerate the green transition of the economy. The competition was open to creators of innovative technologies, products, services, and projects with real implementation potential. The submitted achievements were evaluated in eight categories, including energy, construction, ecology, new technologies, materials engineering, transportation, and socio-economic innovations. The winners of the competition were announced during a formal awards ceremony.

During the conference, considerable attention was devoted to the irreversibility of the energy transition. In their remarks, many panelists emphasized, among other things, that even political signals from the opposition regarding the need to withdraw from commitments such as the ETS, emissions reductions, or increasing the share of renewable energy will not translate on a large scale into industrial operators returning to the massive use of coal. Examples were cited from South American countries, where, despite the absence of legal climate commitments, the direction of the transition is the same as in the EU. Panel participants also highlighted the maturity and cost-effectiveness of many renewable energy and energy storage solutions (including gravity storage systems, which are in the pilot phase), as well as the opportunities presented by SMRs.

Representatives of our Association (J. Turski, K. Godlewska, M. Jastrzębski, J. Żubrzak) accepted the invitation to participate in the conference. We congratulate the organizers on the substantive program, the distinguished and knowledgeable panelists, the successful debate, and the high turnout of participants.
