An SPP representative has been appointed to the State Forests Council
On April 23, 2026, a meeting of the State Forests Council was held at the DGLP headquarters in Warsaw, marking the inauguration of this advisory and consultative body under the DGLP for the 2026–2029 term. The event was accompanied by the appointment of the new members of the Council, as well as the announcement of the Council’s organizational regulations based on a previously issued order by the DGLP. The State Forests Council is an advisory and consultative body to the Director General of State Forests as the head of the State Forest Enterprise within the meaning of Article 33(1) of the Forest Act.
The main responsibilities of the LP Council include, among other things, formulating comments and recommendations to be addressed to the Director General of the State Forests, as well as providing advisory opinions on the following matters:
- long-term development plans and policies of the State Forests;
- drafts of the State Forests’ financial and economic plan;
- legal and organizational changes within the State Forests;
- reports on the condition of the forests;
- other matters that the Director General of the State Forests deems necessary to consult with the Board.
During the meeting, appointment certificates were presented to the members of the LP Board for a term of three consecutive years; among them, J. Turski (SPP) received his certificate from A. Wasiak (Director General of the LP). Prof. Stanisław Drozdowski (Director of the Institute of Forest Research) was elected Chairman of the Council for the new term. Among those elected to the four-member Presidium of the Council was a representative of the wood industry: Piotr Poziomski, President of the PIGPD, based in Poznań. Those gathered were briefed on the key assumptions of the PGL LP Financial and Economic Plan for 2026 (presented by Marcin Polak – Deputy Director of the State Forests), and following a discussion (in a Q&A format), the draft document was adopted by resolution.
