SPP’s Participation in the 18th European Economic Congress
On April 22–24, 2026, the 18th edition of the European Economic Congress (EEC) took place at the international conference center in Katowice under the theme “The Power of Dialogue.” This year’s debate focused on key challenges shaping issues such as industrial and technological sovereignty, investments in green energy, digital security, and future skills, while also addressing the most critical areas determining the position of Poland and the entire European Union in the face of emerging geopolitical realities. The program of the three-day Congress devoted significant attention to discussing the pressures created by global turbulence, challenges related to the climate transition, the digital revolution, maintaining competitiveness, building security, and revising the strategic direction of development. Among the challenges requiring urgent attention were areas such as the future labor market, migration, education, and people’s adaptation to life in a data- and technology-driven economy. Speakers included key representatives of the Polish government, such as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs K. Gawkowski, Minister of Finance A. Domański, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Climate and Environment A. Sowińska, deputy chair of the Sejm Committee on the Environment G. Lenartowicz, as well as numerous influential figures from the worlds of business and science. Among the large crowd of Congress participants were, among others, representatives of our Association (J. Turski, K. Godlewska, M. Jastrzębski). Panels and discussions dedicated to the following topics drew particular interest from representatives of our industry:
- 22.04. – Business transformation 2030; Europe’s economic strenght; Transition – Energy for the economy; Energy mix, system, security; Top business leaders on trends and the future.
- 23.04. – Challenges of the climate policy; Green financing, Energy efficiency; Biotechnology and innovations; Digitalisation technologies and competences for tommorow.
- 24.04. – Industry and innovations; Waste and energy; Packaging waste management; Adaptation to climate change; Politicians on the economy.
Delegates from our Association took the opportunity to establish direct contacts with the parliamentarians and representatives of central government agencies present at the event. Furthermore, participation in the EKG policy debate facilitated a series of spontaneous meetings, conversations, and exchanges of experiences in an informal setting with representatives of numerous industrial sectors, as well as other key sectors of the national economy.
