5th International Modern Packaging Conference — Packaging Day 2026
On September 15, 2026, the fifth edition of the Modern Packaging International Conference, organized by the Polish Chamber of Packaging (PIO), took place at the Warsaw House of Technology. This year, for the first time, the conference was combined with the celebration of Packaging Day—a Polish industry holiday established by the PIO in 2007. Its goal is to raise awareness about the role of packaging in the economy, in everyday life, and in protecting consumer health.
The year 2026 is a game-changer—the PPWR regulation takes effect on August 12, and the deposit-return system has been in place since January—which is why the conference focused entirely on the companies that will be most affected by these changes: packaging users—retail chains and retailers, the FMCG sector (food, beverages, cosmetics, household chemicals, pharmaceuticals), companies that package their own products, co-packing firms, and e-commerce businesses.
The conference opened with a lecture by a guest from Finland titled “PPWR in Practice: Will the European Regulatory Tsunami Strengthen or Weaken the Union?” followed by a segment featuring the ceremonial presentation of honorary titles from the Polish Chamber of Packaging—“Distinguished Service to the Packaging Industry” and “Company with Distinguished Service to the Packaging Industry” — as well as the presentation of certificates to the Chamber’s new member companies.
This was followed by four thematic sessions:
- Vision 2030+
- Financing Green Investments and Risk Management
- Innovation and Technology
- Sustainable Packaging
The conference concluded with an expert panel discussion titled “The Packaging Industry and the PPWR: Data, Standards, and Recycling.”
