Everything Solid Melts into Air – An Exhibition of Paper Art
The Museum of Papermaking cordially invites you to an exhibition by Maja Dokudowicz, an artist affiliated with the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, who recently completed an artist residency at our museum.
The works on display explore the themes of memory, identity, presence, and absence, and in them, paper becomes a full-fledged artistic medium—a material for sculpture and installation.
The material itself plays a particularly important role in Maja Dokudowicz’s work. The artist uses, among other things, kozo and gampi fibers, as well as papers made from plant materials—straw, hay, hosta, ginkgo, canna, hornbeam, daylily, and grapevine. Some of the works were created during the artist’s residency at our museum, while the plant materials were also sourced through a collaboration with the Botanical Garden of the University of Wrocław.
The exhibition “Everything Solid Melts into Air” is a convergence of a traditional material and the language of contemporary art—here, paper becomes a space for experimentation, memory, and reflection on that which is enduring yet constantly changing.
The opening will take place on October 10, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at the Museum of Papermaking in Duszniki-Zdrój.
