EU regulations and the future of energy-intensive sectors – FOEEiG press conference

On January 13, 2026, the Polish Press Agency (PAP) headquarters in Warsaw hosted a high-level press conference titled “EU regulations and the future of the energy-intensive sectors.” The event was organized by the Forum of Electricity and Gas Consumers (FOEEiG) under the official patronage of the Ministry of Climate and Environment and the Ministry of Energy.

The conference centered around a strategic report by Maciej Burny (Enerxperience): “Analysis of current regulatory developments in EU climate policy with the greatest impact on energy-intensive industries”. The discussions focused on these important topics:

  • analysis of current regulatory developments in EU climate policy with the greatest impact on the energy-intensive industry;
  • the new shape of the ETS system after 2030 – demands of the energy-intensive industry;
  • the CBAM mechanism and its effectiveness in protecting the competitiveness of the energy-intensive industry;

The event concluded with a panel “EU regulations and risk for the energety-intensive sectors – is Europe headed for deindustrialisation?” moderated by attorney Filip Elżanowski. Panelists included:

  • Elżbieta Rozmus (FOEEiG),
  • dr inż. Paweł Bielski (Grupa Azoty S.A.),
  • Wojciech Więcławik (CMC Poland),
  • Zbigniew Pilch (Cement Producers Association),
  • Maciej Burny (Enerxperience).

Our Association was represented at the event by J. Turski, K. Godlewska, and M. Jastrzębski.
