On September 26, 2024, a seminar on “EUDR – challenges and responsibilities” was held, organized by our Association. The seminar dealt with issues related to Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 31 May 2023 on the making available on the Union market and the export from the Union of certain commodities and products associated with deforestation and forest degradation and repealing Regulation (EU) No 995/2010. The introduction to the topic was a presentation by Dr. Adam Mierzwinski, delivered by Katarzyna Godlewska (director of the SPP office) and Janusz Turski (director general of SPP), who presented the subject and scope of the regulation. Karolina Tymorek, a representative of FSC Poland, spoke next, who presented FSC tools in the context of EUDR. After the coffee break, Ilona Olsztynska of SGS Poland discussed in detail what obligations arise for entrepreneurs in connection with the introduction of the EUDR regulation. Finally, Dr. Krzysztof Jodłowski of the Forest Research Institute PEFC Poland gave a presentation on “PEFC and EUDR requirements.” In addition, the seminar was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Climate and Environment and the Ministry of Development and Technology: Dr. Przemysław Iżycki, Iwona Boryceusz-Matusiak and Karolina Król (online).
