SPP meeting with Metsä Group
On November 8, 2023, SPP held a meeting with representatives of the Metsä Board at Metsä Group’s headquarters in Warsaw. From the SPP side, the meeting was attended by: Marek Ściążko, chairman of the Paper Section and vice president of SPP, Konrad Olejnik – vice president of SPP and director of the Center for Papermaking and Printing at Technical University of Łódź, and SPP office staff: Janusz Turski – general director, Katarzyna Godlewska – office director, and Agnieszka Werner – Corrugated Board Section. Metsä Group was represented by Tomi Salo – SVP Corporate Affairs, Sustainability and Circular Economy Metsä Group, Timo Lehesvirta – Forest Biologist and Leading Nature Expert in Metsä Group, Kalle Ikonen – Forest Expert and Policy for Metsä Group in Brussels, Christoph Zeiler – SVP Corporate Affairs Germany and EU, Janusz Bigus – Manging Director Metsä Tissue Poland, Pavel Ehrlich – VP Production, Metsä Tissue Krapkowice Mill. In addition, the meeting was also attended by: Tiina Rytilä – Public Affairs Manager of the Finnish Forest Industries Federation, FFIF, and Anna Holmberg – Public Affairs Manager of the Swedish Forest Industries Federation, SFIF.
During the meeting, all organizations (Metsä, SPP, SFIF, FFIF) had the opportunity to introduce themselves and discuss their activities. They discussed current and future activity in the field of changing legislation (PPWR, ESPR, IED, deforestation), the situation in the wood market, forest biodiversity in Poland and the EU.
Talking together, establishing direct contact with Metsä’s management division allows us to build a space for developing mutual relations for the future, and thus provides an opportunity to act together in the interests of the industry, in accordance with the “one voice approach.”
